"Sebastian's Great Escape: A Lobster Adventure"

Image
Thursday, 21st September 2023 Life can be full of surprises, and sometimes, those surprises come in the form of our beloved pets. This is the story of Sebastian, my adventurous pet lobster, and his daring escape from the confines of his aquarium. Join me as I recount the rollercoaster of emotions that followed his disappearance and the ultimate relief of finding him. A Missing Crustacean It was an ordinary evening when I returned home from work, looking forward to the usual aquatic spectacle in my living room. But to my dismay, I found an empty space where Sebastian, my pet lobster, used to reside. The other fish in the tank seemed undisturbed, leaving me with a sinking feeling that Sebastian had gone on an adventure of his own. The Search My heart heavy with worry, I embarked on a frantic search throughout the house. Every nook and cranny was examined, every room scoured. Sebastian had been known for his escape attempts, but this time, he seemed to have succeeded. My sadness gre...

(Image credit to djanira) Revving Back to Life: A Rekindled Passion Life can be a whirlwind, taking us away from the things we love most. It's been a while since I last wrote, and for that, I apologize. But here I am, ready to make amends and share my heartfelt promise to dedicate more time to writing. As I sit here, reminiscing about the past, one passion that has always ignited my spirit is motorcycles. While I may currently ride a small motorcycle, my desire for a bigger sports bike still burns within me. It takes me back to my younger days, where I experienced the thrill of riding a 600cc Honda sports bike. The Roar of the Engine There's something exhilarating about the roar of a motorcycle engine, like a symphony of power and freedom. From the moment I first straddled a motorcycle, I was hooked. The wind in my face, the vibrations beneath me – it was an unmatched sensation. Riding became more than just a hobby; it became a part of my identity. The Honda Sports bi...

Tafsir Mimpi

Image
Photo by R_ R on Unsplash My mom passed away two years ago in the year 2021. The doctor said it was not due to Covid-19 but she passed weeks after she had her second vaccine dose, during the Movement Control Order (MCO).  She suddenly had a heart attack and was put into a deep sleep but she passed due to a lung infection. After two years, I finally met her again in a dream last night at around 3 am 5/4/2023. An all-white dream where everybody wore white, including myself, in a white room, and she then disappeared into a bright light.   Tafsir Mimpi .  For many individuals, dreams are a way to process emotions, memories, and experiences. Tafsir mimpi or dream interpretation, a topic studied by various researchers worldwide, attempts to decipher what specific symbols or events in dreams may stand for. In Islamic cultures, dream interpretation is an important aspect of daily life as many believe that dreams can grant us access to insights about our subconscious...

(The author does not claim credit for this image. Source: WhatsApp) Ramadan is a time of spiritual reflection, self-improvement, and heightened devotion and worship for Muslims around the world. It is also a time of tradition and culture, where Ramadan bazaars are held in many countries, providing a range of food and goods to be purchased by the Muslim community. However, this year's Ramadan bazaar has left many disappointed due to the imbalance of sellers and buyers, causing prices to skyrocket to ridiculous levels. Despite the abundance of food and goods available, there simply aren't enough buyers to support the sheer number of sellers. The result is a bazaar that feels more like a flea market than a cultural celebration. The vendors are desperate to sell their goods and have resorted to pricing their products exorbitantly. For example, a stick of chakwi cost rm1.50 each before Ramadan but it is RM1.70 now. A plate of Gado-Gado suddenly becomes RM10.00. Moreover, the quali...

Observing Ramadan in Malaysia: Community, Family, and Spiritual Growth

Image
(Photo credit to oppidanlibrary.com) Ramadan is a month of great significance for the majority of Malaysians. It is a time of community, family, and personal spiritual growth, and it is observed by people of all ages and backgrounds. This annual observance is one of the five pillars of Islam, and it is considered the holiest month in the Islamic calendar. During the month of Ramadan, Muslims abstain from food, drink, and other physical needs from dawn until sunset. The purpose of this fasting is to cultivate a greater sense of self-discipline, humility, and compassion toward those who are less fortunate. It is also an opportunity to focus on spiritual growth and reflection and to deepen one's connection to God. For common Malaysians, the communal iftar meal is one of the most significant aspects of Ramadan. It is common for mosques and community centres to host these meals, providing an opportunity for people to come together and share food and conversation. These meals foster a se...

UMS Water Woes

Image
Sabah Tanah Tiada Airku (Image Source from Whatsapp) The ongoing water supply issues at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) have been a major concern for students, staff, and parents alike. The problem started last year, and despite talks with ministers and relevant government agencies, it has yet to be resolved. As a result, students are facing difficulties in their studies, and their morale is badly affected. As a concerned parent with two children studying at UMS, I can attest to the frustration and anxiety felt by families affected by this issue. The lack of reliable water supply at UMS has become a severe problem, especially for students living on campus. This includes my children, who have been struggling with the situation for a while now. The university has made several attempts to address the issue, but it has persisted, causing great inconvenience for students and their families. It is unacceptable that students have to go through the hassle of having to leave their hostels ...

Burning Bridges

Photo by Jeffrey Hamilton on Unsplash As human beings, we all seek companionship and connection. We form friendships with others in the hopes of finding mutual support, comfort, and joy. However, not all friendships are healthy, and some can even be toxic. It can be difficult to let go of these friendships, but sometimes, it is necessary for our well-being. Over the years, I have stepped away from many friendships that I deemed toxic. At first, it was not an easy decision to make. I felt guilty and ashamed for wanting to distance myself from people who had once been important in my life. However, as time went on, I began to realize that I was doing what was best for me. I was choosing my mental and emotional health over the need to keep toxic people in my life. In the end, stepping away from toxic friendships has allowed me to feel more at peace. While I do think  about these friendships from time to time, I know that I made the right decision for myself. By prioritizing my...
